Atropine and Pharma Treatment for Myopia
Dr. Langis Michaud, OD, MSc, Dipl (AAO), FSLS, FBCLA, FEAOO, IAOMMC
Several strategies can be used to manage myopia and prevent the development of blinding diseases. Among these, atropine can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other optical devices. This course reviews this molecule and attempts to answer questions that practitioners may have, including ‘what is the mechanism of action, what dosage should be used, when should treatment be started and stopped, how can rebound effects be avoided and what are the short, medium and long-term effects?’
