PROGRAM AT A GLANCE
Advances in Myopia Management: Optical Technologies with Risk Factors and Progression Profiles
Dr. Fallon Patel, BSc, OD
Myopia management has evolved from simple refractive correction to a proactive, evidence-based approach focused on slowing axial elongation and reducing long-term ocular risk. Modern optical technologies, including lenslet designs, DIMS, EDOF, diffusion optics and next-generation innovations like enhanced lenslet systems, aim to modify peripheral retinal signaling to better control progression. At the same time, understanding individual risk factors such as age of onset, genetic predisposition, environmental influences and rate of progression is essential for guiding treatment selection and optimizing outcomes. Integrating advanced optical strategies with patient-specific risk profiling enables a more personalized and effective approach to myopia management, reflecting the shift toward precision care in clinical practice.

Sun Pathologies and Protection
Dr. Wynn Nguyen, OD
This lecture will take a clinical deep dive into acute and chronic effects of UV damage to the eyes. How to protect against UV damage, the dangers of bad filters and how to translate effective communication in the gallery to maximize conversations, will be reviewed.
