Dr. Upen Kawale graduated from the University of Waterloo School of Optometry in 1993 with his Doctor of Optometry. Upon graduation, Dr. Kawale immediately co-founded the Bay-Bloor Clinic with Dr. Nolfi. The practice began with zero patients and currently serves over 40,000 patients. Dr. Kawale has also established two other successful optometric clinics in Pickering and Willowdale, Ontario. He has served on both the Canadian and American Optometric Advisory Boards for LensCrafters Inc. and currently serves on the Advisory Board for TLC Vision Centres. Dr. Kawale is proud to accept the Denis Kennedy O.D. award from TLC Vision Centres for Excellence in Eye Care. He has served as a guest speaker for a variety of company's including: Johnson and Johnson, LensCrafters and Rheovision AMD centres. Dr. Kawale's practice philosophy is based on personalized vision care, whereby� his recommendations for his patients reflect each of their special needs and wants. He is proud to offer state of the art eye examinations and employs proactive strategies to ensure the ongoing health and vision of his patients. He has been recognized for his contributions to the profession of optometry via different mediums, including magazines, radio and television. He has appeared repeatedly on various media outlets including CITY-TV, South Asian Television, CBC TV and The Bill Carroll Show on CFRB Radio. One of Dr. Kawale's most liberating moments of his life was when he underwent LASIK eye surgery on August 5th, 1999. Since that day, he enjoys 20/20 vision and is happy to report that his dry eye from contact lenses and "Coke-bottle" glasses are a thing of the past.
