

Dr. Olayinka Williams is a Medical Retina Consultant at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. She completed her specialist training in Ophthalmology in the West of Scotland Deanery, followed by a cataract surgical fellowship. She subsequently undertook a Medical Retina Fellowship at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital, where she now serves as Consultant Ophthalmologist in Medical Retina and Senior Research Fellow and Sub-Investigator in the Inherited Medical Retinal Disease Service at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and University College London. Dr. Williams holds degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology from Queen Mary University of London. She obtained her medical degree from St George’s University of London, United Kingdom. She became a Fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmologists in 2022. Her clinical practice encompasses the full spectrum of medical retinal disorders, with expertise in diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusions, age-related macular degeneration, prognostic factors in diabetic retinopathy progression and hydroxychloroquine retinopathy screening. She has undertaken clinical trials in autologous blood therapy for severe ocular surface disease. Dr. Williams has published in multiple journals and has presented at numerous national and international conferences including ARVO, EURETINA, ESCRS and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists Annual Congress and contributed to the educational textbook Ophthalmology Made Easy (Scion Publishing, 2024). An experienced educator, Dr. Williams has organized and lectured on multiple national training programmes including the Moorfields Medical Retina Laser Simulation Course, the Moorfields A&E Clinical Skills Course and an OCT interpretation course. She has a keen interest in simulation and was a faculty member for the Posterior Capsule Rupture Simulation Programme. She has also served as a peer reviewer for Eye Journal and is an active member of RCOphth, ESCRS, UKISCRS and ARVO.
