Dr. Defalque obtained a B.Sc. in Biochemistry from McGill University before completing her Doctorate in Optometry at the University of Montreal in 2015. She then pursued a residency in Ocular Disease at a large ophthalmology clinic, the Institut de l’Oeil des Laurentides, where she continues to work. In this stimulating environment, she has had the opportunity to teach optometric interns and participate in ongoing clinical trials. Her practice is focused on ocular disease and surgical co-management; this enabled her to supervise skills labs for Quebec optometrists during a new Therapeutic Privileges course in 2018. Since 2016, she has also been a consultant for the Optometry Examining Board of Canada, which assesses entry-to-practice competence in optometry.
