Graduated from Ryerson Polytechnic in 1973 after successfully completing the Opticians Program. Subsequently, was licensed by the Board of Ophthalmic Dispensers of Ontario. Started Teaching in the Opticians Program in 1975 at Ryerson Polytechnic. Re-wrote the curriculum and upgraded the program to meet Ryerson University of Toronto standards. The new program was assessed as being one of the top five programs in North America and the UK.
