Dr. Abby Wicks is a Senior Staff Optometrist and Clinical Instructor of Ophthalmology at Baylor College of Medicine-Baylor Scott & White Health Ophthalmology in Temple, Texas. After graduating from the Southern California College of Optometry, she completed the Acquired Brain Injury/Primary Care residency program at State University of New York College of Optometry in Manhattan. Dr. Wicks spent a short time in private practice in Southern California before she was recruited by the Department of Defense to develop a vision rehabilitation program among a multidisciplinary team of specialists at Fort Hood (now Fort Cavazos) NICoE Intrepid Spirit Center. This endeavor was not only personally fulfilling but helped rehabilitate nearly 2,000 active-duty soldiers to return to duty in the time she led the program. In 2022, she transitioned to the private sector where she continues to stay engaged in vision rehabilitation through direct patient care, peer-reviewed publications, clinical education for ophthalmology residents as well as research. Dr. Wicks is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. She currently resides in Georgetown, Texas with her husband and four children.
