What Every Technician Should Know About Ocular Emergencies

This course will present an overview of how telephone triage and walk-in office visits should be handled.The key elements of triaging and the differences between an emergency and urgent care will be reviewed. This course will also review the testing procedures required before patients are treated by the optometrist.
Explaining Dry Eyes and Treatment Options to Patients: My Patients are Educated

This course will teach technicians how to explain dry eye treatments and procedures to their patients in terms that they can understand. This course will also review anatomy terminology, ocular surface diseases and their causes, medications that enhance dry eyes, products and their uses, in-office and at home treatments, continued and post-operative care, industry warnings and current industry trends in ocular surface disease.
Basic Contact Lens Dispensing, Insertion and Removal

This course will discuss techniques for dispensing contact lenses and will include how to communicate instructions to the patient, insertion and removal techniques and the differences between dispensing contact lenses to adults versus children. A practical demonstration on the insertion and removal of contact lenses will be provided to the attendees.
Workshop on Soft Contact Lens Insertion and Removal

This practical hands-on workshop will demonstrate the insertion and removal of soft contact lenses. Attendees will be provided with safety and cleanliness procedures, proper fitting and removal techniques and tips on how to educate their patients.
